Easter Sunday: No, It’s Not About The Bunny

Easter Sunday: No, It’s Not About The Bunny
My colleagues (one Indian, one Sri  Lankan and one Pinay) and I were discussing about Easter Sunday and the two came up to the question “What do you celebrate in Easter Sunday? Why are there eggs and bunnies?”
To set the record straight, we celebrate “Easter” for Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Yet some of  us, particularly the children thinks that an overgrown bunny bringing baskets of candy and eggs is what Easter is about. Why not refer to Easter as Resurrection Sunday? In that way it will help us keep a spiritual focus.
The intention of this post is to emphasize the real reason for the holiday without keeping away the fun. It should be about the joy and excitement of Christ’s conquer over death. After all, Easter isn’t about the Bunny, it’s all about the Lamb.

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! – John 1:29
